Express Rail Link

The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) is a 26-kilometer high-speed rail section that connects Hong Kong to the mainland China high-speed rail network via the West Kowloon Station. Construction began in 2010, and the XRL officially opened for public use on September 23, 2018, with trains operating at up to 200 km/h on the Hong Kong section.
The project's goal was to significantly reduce travel times between Hong Kong and major mainland cities, fostering economic and social ties and reinforcing Hong Kong as the gateway to the Mainland.
